Ho’o Maka Ana Hou (New Beginning)
$8,000.00 Oil on Canvas 36” x 72” In preparation for our mosaic commission, I was looking for an image of humpback whales that captured the excitement of living next to the ocean on the Kohala Coast where you can hear the whales singing in the quiet of the night. And in the early hours of the morning watch the baby humpbacks with their attentive mothers swim by. Tui de Roy has some beautiful photos of humpback whales. This one captured the protective, loving, sweetness of the animals. The painting then became the basis for the mosaic. Quick View -

Color Theory Grey
$3,800.00 Framed Painted Paper Collage 26” x 41” The exploration of blacks and greys started with Stuart Semple’s new black, Black 2.0. This is a flat, matte, black paint that absorbs more light than any other black but VantaBlack. What followed was a exploration of blacks…Ivory, Lamp, Italian black earth, Black Spinel, Chromatic Black and Black 2.0 and then the idea of grey. Grey can be towards purple or green or blue but within a painting, the grey looks grey. On black, grey and white both blacks and greys appear different. All three panels have the same colors but they read differently based on the background. In the end, I loved the look. It’s clean and modern. Quick View -
